Meeting Notes

The host participated in Dr. Huang Yanzong's session on estimating effects under competitive risks, explaining how events like death from diabetes or cancer compete. Dr. Huang introduced a new formula in the Causal Mediation Model, using hepatitis B and liver cancer as examples.
The afternoon session explored Judea Pearl’s and Neyman-Rubin's causal inference models, highlighting their role in traffic accident compensation. Professor Lin Shengxuan discussed ethnic attributable risk in public health policy.
The moderator said that this seminar not only strengthened the application of causal inference in health risk assessment, but also provided a rich theoretical basis for future causal research in public health, legal judgment and policy making. These diverse discussions have expanded the academic community's understanding of causal inference and laid the foundation for future applications in a wider range of fields.
