Meeting Notes
The Taiwan Statistical Methodology Association held a two-day seminar from November 4–5, 2023, at the College of Public Health, National Taiwan University, under the theme "Navigating the Blue Ocean of Data: Statistical Thinking and Approaches." The seminar brought together experts from various fields to explore the application of statistical methods in the age of big data.
The event featured lectures on advanced statistical techniques such as structural equation modeling (SEM), multi-level linear models (MLM), latent class analysis (LCA), and item response theory (IRT). Discussions also covered emerging technologies like neural networks.
On November 5, participants engaged in a practical workshop focused on WinBUGS software, where they learned to build statistical models and analyze real-world data. This hands-on session catered to both beginners and those with more advanced knowledge.
The seminar not only showcased the accomplishments of the Taiwan Statistical Methodology Society but also fostered collaboration between academia and the practical community, promoting the innovative application of statistical methods across various disciplines.
